Privacy Policy

BuildResi ("we", "us", "our") is a residential general contractor management application operated by Dalton Grant as a sole proprietor. We take privacy seriously and want to be straightforward with you about what we collect, how we use it, and what control you have over it.

This policy applies to the BuildResi web application at buildresi.com, our mobile applications, and any related services we provide (collectively, the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide directly

When you sign up for and use BuildResi, we collect:

• Account information: name, email address, password (encrypted), and beta invite code.
• Company information: company name, business address, phone number, license number, and company logo (if uploaded).
• Project and job data: jobsite addresses, client names, client contact information, project budgets, schedule items, change orders, daily logs, photos, and any other information you enter while using the Service.
• Team and crew information: names, email addresses, roles, and hours logged for workers, subcontractors, and team members you add to your account.
• Feedback content: any messages, bug reports, suggestions, or questions you submit through the in-app feedback feature.
• Communications: messages you send us via email or any other contact method.

1.2 Information collected automatically

When you use the Service, we automatically collect:

• Usage information: pages you visit within the Service, features you use, and actions you take (such as creating jobs, submitting feedback, or approving estimates).
• Device and browser information: browser type, operating system, device type, screen size, and user agent string.
• Authentication session data: session tokens that keep you logged in (provided by our authentication provider, Supabase).
• Server logs: our hosting provider (Vercel) maintains standard server logs including timestamps and request information.

1.3 Information from third parties

If you sign in using a third-party authentication provider in the future (such as Google or Microsoft), we will receive basic profile information from that provider. Currently, BuildResi uses email and password authentication only.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Service.
• Authenticate your account and maintain your session.
• Save and display your business data (jobs, estimates, photos, etc.).
• Send you transactional emails: beta invite codes, account-related notifications, and responses to your feedback.
• Respond to your feedback, bug reports, and support requests.
• Improve the Service by understanding how it's used and where users encounter issues.
• Protect the Service against abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access.
• Comply with applicable laws and respond to legal requests.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data to train machine learning models. We do not share your data with advertisers.

3. How We Share Information

We share information only with service providers we use to operate BuildResi, and only as necessary for them to provide their services to us. These providers include:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage. Privacy policy
• Vercel — application hosting and serverless functions. Privacy policy
• Resend — transactional email delivery (beta invites, feedback notifications). Privacy policy
• Google Workspace — our business email service. Privacy policy

We may also share information when required by law (such as in response to a valid subpoena or court order), to protect our rights or the rights of others, or in connection with a business transfer (such as a sale or merger of BuildResi). If a business transfer occurs, you will be notified before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on infrastructure operated by Supabase (database, file storage) and Vercel (application servers). Both providers use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest.

We restrict access to your data to authorized personnel only. As a sole proprietor, currently this means only Dalton Grant has access to administrative systems.

While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify affected users in the event of a data breach involving their information, as required by law.

5. Data Retention

We retain your information as follows:

• Active accounts: we keep your data for as long as your account is active.
• Deleted accounts: when you request account deletion, we remove your personal information from our active systems within 30 days. Some information may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days, after which it is permanently deleted.
• Aggregate or anonymized data: we may retain aggregate usage statistics that cannot identify you personally indefinitely.
• Legal holds: we may retain information longer if required by law or to resolve legal disputes.

6. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your information:

• Access: you can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Correction:you can update most of your information directly in the Service. For anything you can't change yourself, contact us.
• Deletion: you can request that we delete your account and associated data.
• Export: you can request an export of your data in a portable format.
• Opt-out of marketing: you can unsubscribe from any non-essential emails. Note that we may still send transactional emails (such as password resets or critical service announcements) for accounts that remain active.

7. California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights. We do not sell personal information, so the "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" right does not apply. To exercise your CCPA rights, contact us at the email above.

8. International Users (GDPR)

BuildResi is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from the European Union, European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or another region with data protection laws, please be aware that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

Under the GDPR, EU users have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, object to processing, and request portability of their personal data. Contact us at the email above to exercise these rights.

9. Children's Privacy

BuildResi is intended for use by adults (18 years or older) operating residential construction businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Cookies and Tracking

BuildResi uses cookies only for essential authentication and session management (handled by our authentication provider, Supabase). We do not use third-party tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies that identify individual users.

We may add aggregate analytics in the future (such as Vercel Analytics or Plausible). If we do, this policy will be updated and the analytics will use only privacy-respecting tools that do not track individuals.

11. Third-Party Links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services we don't control. This policy applies only to BuildResi. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we'll provide additional notice (such as a banner in the Service or an email to active users). Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
